BURLINGTON, Ontario,
February 21, 2008 – L-3 WESCAM, a wholly owned subsidiary
of L-3
Communications, announced today that it has been selected to provide
six M12TS200 electrooptical/
infrared (EO/IR) imaging sensors to the Texas Department of Public
Safety (Texas DPS). System
deliveries are scheduled to take place throughout 2008.
With the collection and dissemination
of time-critical intelligence a necessity in the protection of
citizens and state infrastructure, the Texas DPS will utilize L-3
WESCAM’s
stabilized and high-magnification
optics to provide influential video and data to command and control
centers for informed decision
making. Using Eurocopter AS350B2 and EC145 helicopters, missions
will include homeland security,
manhunts, domestic marijuana eradication programs, search and rescue
operations, medical emergencies,
and natural disaster response.
This second order from the Texas DPS is a result of L-3 WESCAM’s
consistent product support,
maintainability and reliability. With mission readiness a priority,
L-3 WESCAM provides highavailability,
expedited repair turnaround times and loaner systems. Along with
full field support,
WESCAM further supports the Texas DPS with parts, repairs and trained
personnel from its service
center in California. “Situational awareness technology among tactical units is no
longer an option but a requirement,”
said Paul Jennison, vice president of sales and business development
for L-3 WESCAM. “At the end of
2008, the Texas DPS will be one of the largest non-DoD, non-USG
owners and operators of WESCAM
imaging systems, with an installed base of 14 M12DS and M12TS units.
We are committed to servicing
the Texas DPS in support of its U.S. homeland security missions.”
