FARNBOROUGH, England, July 14, 2008 – L-3
WESCAM, a wholly owned subsidiary of L-3 Communications, announced
that it has partnered with Cobham Aviation Australia, a leader
in aviation component maintenance, to create a WESCAM Service Center
at its facility. Located in Cairns, this new WESCAM service center
is accessible to civil and defense customers throughout the Asia-Pacific
region.
Through this partnership, Cobham Aviation Australia has become
the authorized service center for WESCAM’s MX®-Series
of electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) imaging turrets. The new
center is equipped to support and maintain this highly specialized
series and will benefit WESCAM’s customers in Australia,
New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan,
Brunei, India, Pakistan, Singapore and Korea. These customers will
have direct access to WESCAM’s ISO 9001:2000 accredited services
through Cobham Aviation’s local maintenance facilities, as
well as engineering services, qualified technicians and on-site
service. The center’s quick repair-response will further
decrease service turnaround time.
“Being accessible to our customers is a key priority for
WESCAM,” said Rod Till, director of customer service for
L-3 WESCAM. “Our goal is to listen to their needs and provide
the most responsive level of customer service possible. WESCAM’s
partnership with Cobham Aviation Australia will support our efforts
in this regard and elevate the success of our MX-series of products
in the Asia-Pacific region.”
The addition of Cobham Aviation Australia in Cairns, Australia,
is the seventh off-shore center that WESCAM has established to
provide more customer support on a regional basis. Other strategically
located facilities are in Cheltenham, U.K.; Telford, U.K.; Kamakura,
Japan; Santa Rosa, Calif.; Rome, Italy; and Madrid, Spain.
