bullet High MTBF Laser designator
Compact, efficient diode-pumped laser
bullet 3 imaging & 3 laser payloads
Modular payload
bullet Maximum Range
Longest EO/IR range in class
bullet IMU inside
Enables high accuracy GEO-Location and rock-solid stabilization
bullet MIL Qualified
Meets MIL-STD-810, 704 and 461 standards

Bringing laser target designation capability to an already proven performer, the MX-15D is an enhanced variant of the popular MX-15 imaging turret.

Creating an optimum match between system requirements and available budget, the modular design of the MX-15D supports 1 to 6 high-performance sensors:

bullet Color daylight camera with zoom lens bullet Laser designator with LRF
bullet Mono daylight camera with spotter lens bullet Laser illuminator
bullet IR with high magnification 4-step zoom bullet Eyesafe laser rangefinder

The MX-15D was engineered to achieve the longest EO/IR target identification range in the industry. By combining these primary factors, the MX-15D drives maximum range and delivers unparalleled designating performance:

Magnification
bullet Large aperture lenses
bullet Custom lens design and packaging

Resolution
bullet High density packaging (more in less space)
bullet High quality sensors

Stabilization
bullet IMU on inner gimbal with payload
bullet Active control of entire optical bench in 4 axis
bullet 25 years of rock solid experience

Haze and other visibility challenges

The MX-15D design incorporates capabilities to maintain performance in adverse conditions:

bullet Operator selectable optics filters plus excellent near IR sensitivity in the EO imagers insures effective haze penetration
bullet An optional eye-safe laser rangefinder is designed specifically to operate in a wavelength that provides maximum performance in adverse weather conditions

IMU

The MX-15D, in all configurations, comes equipped with an onboard Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). This high-performance unit incorporates solid-state fiber-optic gyro technology for high sensitivity and reliability in a compact volume.

Fully utilizing this IMU-inside technology, the MX-15D further delivers maximum target location accuracy through employing WESCAM’s MX-GEO features package:

ELAP Technology - Enhanced Range Local Area Processing

ELAP produces real-time image enhancement for EO Day, EO Night & IR video in the MX-Series of Imaging Turrets.  Using ELAP technology enables:

bullet Increased standoff range
bullet Improved feature recognition
bullet Maximum haze penetration

ELAP Image Clarity
IR Image using LAP
IR Image using ELAP

GEO-Pointing
bullet Makes tracking easy; the turret follows the subject with hands-free simplicity
bullet Locks all sensors on a precise lat/long position and aims the turret at that fixed point regardless of aircraft movement or obstructions within your line of sight

GEO-Steering
bullet Eliminates over-steering by smoothing the motion of the turret
bullet Relieves the operator of the strain of continuous compensation

GEO-Focus
bullet Bring any scene into focus with the flick of a switch
bullet Ensures correct focus at all times, even when alternating between sensors
bullet Automatically refocus the subject while flying above broken cloud cover

Family Commonality:
The expanded MX-family of turrets maximizes the use of common components and common interior avionics, simplifying interchangeability with efficiencies in support and technology enhancements. This MX-Family commonality delivers low overall life-cycle costs.
