Matt Richi President
Mr. Richi was appointed President of L3 WESCAM in July of 2018 after being appointed as acting President in January of the same year. Mr. Richi has served as President of L3 Maritime Sensor Systems, and as Division President of the L3 KEO organization which includes KEO, Brashear and Calzoni. He is an executive with 32 years of experience within the aerospace and defense industry, including over 15 years within Engineering Program Management, and Business Development. Mr. Richi holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from Western New England University.
Mario Grande Senior Vice President, Operations
Mr. Grande joined L3 WESCAM in October of 2003 with over 21 years of progressive experience in the aerospace and commercial high-tech industries. Mr. Grande is responsible for Operations at the Burlington and Don Mills facilities where he helps formulate business strategies that will further strengthen L3 WESCAM’s ability to deliver industry-leading products and services. Throughout his career, Mr. Grande has held a number of progressive senior level positions, leading engineering, manufacturing and program management organizations. Having worked for Smiths Industries, Leitch Technology and AlliedSignal Aerospace, Mr. Grande has a proven track record in optimizing operational performance and organizational competitiveness. Mr. Grande holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Pat McKay Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, L3 WESCAM & L3 Canada
Ms. McKay joined WESCAM in 2004. With over 35 years of experience, Ms. McKay has held a number of senior level positions leading Finance and Administration functions in various companies such as Copperweld Canada Inc., BTR Sealing Systems, Zenon Environmental and Tridon Limited. She is currently responsible for Finance, Contracts and Information Technology and provides overall direction for Accounting, Tax, Budget, Compliance and Treasury. Ms. McKay has an Honours Degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and has obtained her Certified Public Accountants designation (CPA CA).
Bruce Latimer Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Mr. Latimer joined WESCAM in 1996, and held the positions of Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Corporate Development, General Counsel and Secretary, and Chief Security Officer. With Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, Mr. Latimer participated in international mergers and acquisitions and public offerings. As President of his own business, he specialized in feasibility studies, business plans for new ventures, and computer-based decision support systems. With CAE, he designed and implemented real-time control software. Mr. Latimer has a broad background in engineering, business and law, with a record of accomplishment in managing start-ups and turn-around operations in multi-plant cross-border organizations. Mr. Latimer is a Professional Engineer with a BSc (Engineering and Math) and MSc (Engineering) from Queen’s University, and holds an L.L.B. from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business. He was awarded the gold medal for academic performance while completing his L.L.B./MBA degrees.
Cameron McKenzie Vice President, Global Sales & Business Development
Mr. McKenzie joined L3 WESCAM in October 2017 with over 25 years of sales experience within global defence and aerospace industries. Mr. McKenzie has held a series of senior level positions including Vice President of Global Sales & Business Development for Canadian Commercial Corporation, and Vice President & General Manager of Middle East for CAE. Mr. McKenzie holds a Bachelor of Science and Engineering degree from University of Manitoba.
John Fisher Vice President, Mission Systems and Programs
Mr. Fisher was appointed Vice President of Mission Systems and Programs at L3 WESCAM in October 2018. He is an accomplished Professional Engineer, Business leader and Canadian Forces Veteran with over 20-years’ experience in Canadian and International, private and public sectors. Mr. Fisher spent the majority of his career with General Dynamics Mission Systems, where he held the roles of Chief Platform Engineer on the Bowman Digitization Program in the UK focused on the design and implementation of a tactical internet for the British military as well as Senior Manager of Combat Vehicle programs in Canada. He spent two years as the Director of Capability Projects and Programs with the New Zealand Defence Force. Before joining WESCAM in 2017, he was the Managing Director of QinetiQ Canada Operations Limited. Mr. Fisher has specialized technical knowledge in Program Management, C4ISR/ISTAR, and combat vehicle integration. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary and a Project Management Professional Certification as well as certifications in ISO 15288, DODAF, and CMMI.
Duane Heslinga Vice President, Engineering
Mr. Heslinga joined L3 WESCAM in January 1994. During this time Mr. Heslinga has held various roles of increasing responsibility within WESCAM’s Engineering department, including electrical/electronic designer, project manager, manager of new product development and most recently, Vice President, Engineering. As a key contributor L3 WESCAM’s growth strategy, Mr. Heslinga formalized and implemented a highly-successful New Product Introduction (NPI) process – incorporating both lean and agile principles. In December 2016, Mr. Heslinga was promoted to Vice President, Engineering responsible for all design engineering functions at L3 WESCAM. Mr. Heslinga holds a B.A.Sc. Electrical Engineering (Honours) from the University of Windsor, Ontario.
JD Richard Vice President, Customer Service Group
Mr. Richard joined L3 WESCAM in July 2018 with over 30 years of engineering and product support experience within the aerospace industry. Mr. Richard’s focus is to manage and grow the Customer Services business while meeting and exceeding Customer product sustainment requirements throughout L3 WESCAM’s worldwide Customer base. Mr. Richard has held senior level positions within the aerospace industry throughout his career providing engineering, business development and in-service support leadership on major domestic and international aerospace acquisition and sustainment programs. Mr. Richard’s experience includes senior and executive level positions at both General Dynamics Mission System and IMP Aerospace and Defence. Mr. Richard holds a Professional Engineer designation with a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and a Mini-MBA from McGill Executive Institute.
Janice Barton Sector Vice President, Human Resources
Ms. Barton joined WESCAM in 2019. With over 35 years of experience in human resources and operations, Ms. Barton has held a number of senior level positions with leading organizations such as McCain Foods, Canadian Tire and Suncor Energy. Prior to joining L3 WESCAM, Ms. Barton founded a consulting company and worked with diverse companies of all sizes within industries such as construction, education, financial services, retail and utilities.
Ms. Barton has a Master of Science in Organizational Development from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management and extensive experience in strategy development, human resources, organizational effectiveness and change management. Ms. Barton has been an active member of numerous advisory boards and is currently the Vice-Chair of the National Advisory Board (NAB) for the Salvation Army, Canada and Bermuda.
Steve Tritchew Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Tritchew joined WESCAM in 1994. In his current role, Mr. Tritchew is responsible for internal technology and product development. Mr. Tritchew has worked in the aerospace and telecommunications industries since 1983, and prior to joining WESCAM he held several positions at Spar Aerospace including R&D Manager. Mr. Tritchew also spent several years in the development and production of fiber optic components and test instrumentation at Northern Telecom and Antel Optronics. Mr. Tritchew has a Master of Applied Physics degree from Caltech and a BS in Engineering from McMaster University.
