A $250,000 donation was presented by L3 WESCAM to representatives from the United Way Halton and Hamilton. Brad Park, President and CEO and Jamie Paul, Manager, Resource Development from the United Way accepted the donation which will help the organization achieve lasting and positive change, improve lives, build community and ignite action.
Since 2006, WESCAM employees have rallied to help change the odds for thousands of friends and neighbours who turn to the United Way’s essential network of programs and services.
“Thanks to the continued and tremendous support from our passionate employees, L3 WESCAM was able to raise $250,000 to help support those in need within our community,” said Jacques Comtois, Vice President and General Manager, L3 WESCAM. “This donation will help the United Way Halton & Hamilton support local agencies that focus on combating poverty and assisting the most vulnerable members within our community.”
This year, WESCAM joined almost 15,000 volunteers working tirelessly to improve lives locally. Most recently, as part of L3 Give Back Days, volunteers participated in the United Way Day of Caring Food Sort. Collecting 1,633 pounds of food, which converts into 4,899 meals and a two-month supply of infant products for families in need.
Each year, L3 WESCAM joins over 680 corporate partners in Halton and Hamilton to support the United Way. The United Way Halton & Hamilton provided 129 life saving programs for families, and more than 200,000 individuals were helped this year.
“On behalf of United Way Halton and Hamilton, I want to thank L3 WESCAM and its employees for their incredible and unwavering support over the years,” said Brad Park, President and CEO, United Way Halton and Hamilton. “This donation ensures that more people get the support they need, when they need it, so that they can thrive.”
In their Unignorable Campaign, the United Way reminds us that too often, the greatest problems in our community are the ones we sometimes don’t see. The senior trapped in their home due to mobility and access issues. The young child who sits too quietly at the edge of the playground instead of playing. The kids who don’t know where to go when the school bell rings at the end of the day. The young people who are working two jobs, but can’t get out of the cycle that landed them there.
L3 WESCAM has donated over $1.6 million to the United Way since 2006, and our Committee received the 2018 United Way Spirit Award for Outstanding Employee Campaign of the Year and 2018 United Way Spirit Award for Outstanding Employee Campaign Chair of the Year, during the United Way Evening of Celebration.
