Our new United Way Committee Chair, Bindi Dhaliwal and her team are hard at work coordinating events and opportunities for employees of WESCAM Inc., a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies. Everyone’s collective efforts will improve lives locally by supporting children and youth, building healthy and strong communities and moving people from poverty to possibility. Under Dhaliwal’s guidance, we will work alongside hundreds of corporate partners in Halton and Hamilton and the GTA in support of the United Way.
For its dedicated efforts throughout the year, WESCAM’s United Way Committee received two awards at the United Way Evening of Celebration in the spring. The 2018 United Way Spirit Award for Outstanding Employee Campaign of the Year and the 2018 United Way Spirit Award for Outstanding Employee Campaign Chair of the Year, an honour for the passionate Andy Czebe, past Committee Chair.
The ability to donate is truly a privilege; and throughout the year, dedicated employees volunteer and participate in auctions, bake sales, toy and food drives and other events to support individuals and families within local communities.
From the Holiday Giving Tree and Food Drive to the Adopt-A-Family, WESCAM is fortunate to be able to support the United Way and its community agencies that support three areas of focus: All That Kids Can Be, Healthy People, Strong Communities and Poverty to Possibility.
More individuals and families within local communities will be better able to access the support they need, thanks to the continued generosity of WESCAM employees. On June 5, WESCAM presented the United Way Halton and Hamilton with a cheque for $250,000, raised through a number of organized events.
WESCAM joined local business and community leaders at the 31st Annual Oakville Mayor Rob Burton’s Invitational Golf Tournament held at Glen Abbey Golf Club. Sponsoring the Silent Auction and purchasing two additional foursomes, the event teed up over $140,000 for the United Way Halton and Hamilton.
This past May, WESCAM employees from Burlington to Don Mills participated in Give Back Days in support of the United Way. As part of the campaign, employees helped raise 1,633 pounds of food, which converts to 4,899 meals, and a two-month supply of infant products for families in need.
The United Way is dedicated to raising funds and ensuring that an essential network of programs and services work together to achieve lasting, positive change within our communities.
