Each year, L3 WESCAM joins over 680 corporate partners in Halton and Hamilton fortunate enough to be able to support the United Way. In fact, L3 WESCAM is one of the top 10 largest contributors to United Way Halton & Hamilton across all five communities that we support.
“On behalf of the employees of L3 WESCAM and the United Way Committee Members, I am honoured to present this cheque for $186,000 to support the most vulnerable in our region,” explained Pat McKay, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, L3 WESCAM.
The organization funds a number of agencies, specifically focusing on poverty, health, community, and children. The annual Community Campaign, which includes donations from company payrolls, corporations and individuals, is one of the primary fundraising vehicles for the organization, sharing one vision and working together to provide vital support to individuals and families.
“This is clearly an engaged workplace staffed by some truly generous people who are changing lives,” Brad Park, United Way Halton & Hamilton president and CEO, said. “Getting here has required a terrific collective effort, and I want to thank you on behalf of United Way Halton & Hamilton and on behalf of the thousands of people in our communities who benefit from United Way-supported programs every year. L3 WESCAM should be tremendously proud of everything you have contributed, everything you have accomplished and every life you have changed.
While these campaigns ultimately change lives locally, donor designation options allow employees to earmark donations over $20 to a specific United Way Agency or Registered Canadian Charity (see Donor Designation Statement). In Canada, the United Way operates in over 100 communities.
“Thanks to our employee giving program, we are able to join forces with our neighbours in providing vital support to individuals and families through nearly 100 local agencies, funding programs that address three priorities: helping children and youth reach their full potential, improving neighbourhood health and personal wellbeing, as well as promoting financial security and independence,” explained Roman Turchyn, Vice President, Human Resources & Business Ethics Officer, L3 WESCAM.
United Way Halton & Hamilton is addressing a number of local and complex pressing issues. With the partnership with L3 WESCAM, the United Way Halton & Hamilton is able to strategically support those in need in our community including at-risk youth, those battling poverty, mental illness, among others. Today’s donation demonstrates true commitment to our community and it will lay the groundwork for a healthy and vibrant community for all.
